Paper or Plastic?

Why vote for the Democrats or the Republicans? Are they really that different from each other? Take a good look at their policies. Aside from a few debates in the culture wars, they don't have anything substantially different in the way they promote corporate wealth and, by association, wealth for their paymasters - the richest 1% of American households. Even among that richest 1%, there is discrimination: it is the richest of the richest who have the final say in who receives funding and who does not. That determines who gets voted in.

We've got corporations swollen with federal protections, grants, and fat contracts piping their profits into the back pockets of individuals who have no sense of civic resonsibility. They use the American taxpayer to finance their ballooning lifestyles and the Democrats and Republicans are an integral part of that money-making machine.

The only way to break that machine is to elect persons who have no affiliation with either the Democrats or Republicans. Don't worry that they have little to no exposure: at least they won't rip you off when they're elected. If they do, they lack the resources to keep returning like the current crop of vampire incumbents.

Here in Texas, Rick Perry the Republican is targeting Chris Bell the Democrat in his ads. He does not acknowledge the independent candidates, who poll higher in popularity than the Democrat. I say it would be best for Texas to not acknowledge Perry or Bell and elect the first Independent governor of the state since Sam Houston.

With the major parties, you get paper or plastic. The Democrats are paper because they're slightly more in favor of environmental legislation that benefits the oligopolies instead of outright corporate welfare, like the Republicans vote for.

Shame on both of them for betraying the American Revolution!
